If there's another way, let me know, but if you don't have a system wide
install of wx 2.9 (in either /usr or /usr/local) then you need to build it.
If you're stuck with wx 2.8 system install (Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu, etc)
due to other programs you have installed requiring it, then statically
linking to wx 2.9 seems to be the easiest solution. Otherwise you have to
decide where to put the resulting .so libraries (/usr/lib/freedv?) and then
that can become an RPATH nightmare.
It is technically possible to use dynamic libs on Windows and copy the
resulting DLL's into the FreeDV folder in Program Files, but at that point,
what's the practical difference?
