Richard, don't despair! As near as I can tell you have done a very good job with this and quite quickly. About a year ago I contemplated moving Hamlib to CMake but after a while and cooling off, I went back and read the Autotools documentation again and finally understood its philosophy well enough that I can work with them. I was persuaded to not switch to CMake from others involved with Hamlib as it has been Autoconfiscated for many years.
