Richard,

Got it this time. I manually deleted the /user/local/lib/libcodec2* files,
then carefully cleaned caches, and rebuilt everything. It looks like it
worked!

Thanks for all your help!

I have only the successful build. This is not to say that it is tested or
works in any way.

For anyone who wants to try this themselves, here are the basics:

To recap, on the BeagleBone Black I did the following:

1) Installed the BBB-eMMC-flasher-2013.05.08 Angstrom image.
2) Installed cmake using 'opkg install cmake'
3) Manually downloaded, built, and installed SVN and all of its
dependencies (apr, etc.) from source at the Apache project's site. (bigger
job than I expected...)
4) Manually installed sox, hamlib, sndfile, samplerate, wxWidgets, and
portaudio manually from source, mostly from SourceForge tarballs.
5) Created a folder 'build' under my BBB home folder (/home/wittend/build).
6) Checked out the codec2-dev repository into a folder 'build/codec2-dev'
using the command:

     svn co
https://freetel.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/freetel/codec2-devcodec2-dev

note: my svn does not recognize the SorceForge server certificate, so I hit
't' to accept it temporarily.

7) Checked out the fdmdv2 repository into a folder 'build/fdmdv2' using
the command:

     svn co https://freetel.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/freetel/fdmdv2fdmdv2

note: again, my svn does not recognize the SorceForge server certificate,
so I hit the command t' to accept it temporarily.

8) Created a folder called 'build/build_codec2'.
9) Created a folder called 'build/build_freedv'.
10) 'cd' into build/build_codec2.
11) Issue the command 'cmake ../codec2-dev'
12) Issue the command 'make''
13) Issue the command 'make install'

10) 'cd' into build/build_freedv.
11) Issue the command 'cmake ../codec2-dev'
12) Issue the command 'make''
13) Issue the command 'make install'

If all is well, freedv is now built and installed.

Here are inevitabily some things that I forgot to mention, but this should
get someone on the right path.
