I am sure you are correct. 

I keep my squelch at 0.5 and after the install it went to 4.0 which is why I 
mentioned it.  I will delete all registry entries and try it again.  Sounds 
like something unusal happening with my OS registry entries.

  I can verify that in WIndows wxWidgets saves the settings to the windows 
registry, which already had the default squelch level to 4, deleting all FreeDV 
related registry settings and reloading FreeDV showed a squelch level of 1.5...
