This was to prevent someone running the cmake build within svn from
clobbering any of the automake files. Although the automake build has just
been removed, cmake still recommends out of source builds and I agree. I
prefer to create test build directories somewhere in my home and just point
to the svn location and I don't have to worry about mucking up the svn tree.
