Freedv-server builds C with:
-g -pedantic -Wall -Wextra -Wshadow -DDEBUG
On C++ we use:
-std=c++11 -g -pedantic -Wall -Wextra -Wshadow -Weffc++ -DDEBUG
This is because I got hit by a variable shadowing bug and decided to
turn on all possible warnings and make the code build cleanly with them.
They did indeed warn of a few real problems.
I don't know if Codec2 and the modem would build quietly this way today,
but IMO we should get it there.
