The first step is to get cmake working for you to build an up to date 
version.  It's not possible for me to maintain and assist with older 
versions of the code.  Please work with Richard to determine how to 
solve your cmake problems.

The 1400 mode is no longer used.

There is an easy to use freedv_api set of functions available in the 
latest codec2-dev, with example programs and documentation in the 
function headers.

(a) reliable sync bit is a robust indication of demodulator sync.  It is 
one of the outputs of a state machine used to control the demodulator 
sync state.

(b) See the freedv_api() function documentation and examples.

(c) As per above - lets get the latest code working for you.
