I think $500 with U.S. manufacture. We haven't tried Asian manufacture 
yet, and we want to have stable hardware on sale before we do. We also 
haven't tried buying parts overseas. There are substantial differences 
in parts cost but you have to guard against substitutions, etc.

There is also the potential for a less costly design. Currently the 
computer and gate array are on an off-the-shelf module, we could 
integrate those parts. There are parts that support development that 
don't have to be on an HT.

The main point here is that we have a hardware platform that would 
support a decade's worth of softmodem and application development for 
VHF/UHF. One of the main hurdles we had was the lack of commercial 
equipment that would run Codec2 and softmodems.
