Kristoff, Sorry. I just get frustrated with the "why don't you use a CPU instead of the gate-array", "we just want a variant of D-Star", and "why can't it be more powerful on top of everything that is already in there".
As it happens, we might be able to bring it to 2 Watts. But making a higher-power amplifier with that bandwidth that doesn't do bad stuff is going to take some time. So I am just figuring that people will choose a single-band amp for now and I am not waiting the months to a year that 6-band amp may take before we sell what we already have. As far as I can tell, this product can do as much bandwidth as the NW Digital radio, or more. Really fast channels with high-definition digital video if you want. Full duplex and TDMA repeaters if you want. Ultra narrow band with codec2. Populate bands most folks haven't been able to work before. Run as a self-contained server. Run custom gate-array and software programs. Connect any USB device. All in the same radio. So, it's made to be open-ended rather than cheap, but we may be able to get it cheaper eventually.
