Hi all,

I have just begun playing around with FT and I like what I see so far.
However, there is always room for improvements :-)

So I'll jump right in:

1) Documentation sucks. period. I think I would have given up without the
help from tutorial by Kent Nguyen. Of course, mention of this tutorial is
cleverly hidden in the mailing list archives, not posted on the web site.
I'd rather not make potential users/contributors hunt for info. Let's make
it readily available.

- I would like to suggest that we post a link on the FT web site to this
tutorial or host it from the FT site itself (with Ken's permission of
course)

- There is no DB documentation. This is really pretty bad folks. Kent put
together a picture of the tables but there is no datatype info. I have
already created a PDF of the database diagram. I would like to post this
info on the FT site if others are interested. I will also create the data
dictionary if others are interested in this. I think this will help newbies
to this project (and myself) immensely. Can we get this info on the FT site?

I have done a fair amount of database design work and have some suggestions
for the current design. Is this something to discuss in this list or is
there a better one for these detailed discussions?

2) The sample site should be more interesting. I think more people will
use/contribute to this project if the sample site is better. I almost used a
different framework (The Exchange Project) simply because the sample is damn
nice looking. After looking closer the underlying design was not up to snuff
(IMHO). However, many people will go with the first thing that looks good.

- If there is interest, I will have the graphic artist on our project mock
up a bookstore front end for the sample. Nothing outrageous, but something
to let people see the potential of this framework.

I have some other suggestions, but I'll leave them for another day.

Hope I haven't pissed anyone off. I really think this project holds tons of
promise and I am anxious to contribute to it. I really like the dual
implementation aspect (PHP or Servlets/Java/EJB etc) that is exactly what I
am looking for in a framework.

One more thing: Is anyone working on adding the auction capabilities?

mike
