I'm just getting into FreeTrade, so I don't know all the answers. I'm also
trying to get some documentation together on the DB in all my "free time"
:-). But, I'll answer the ones I know:
attribute: allows you to define global attributes (characteristics) which
can then be associated with items. This table works in conjunction with the
variations table. For instance, for a clothing store, you might create an
attribute called "Gender" you could then create variations called "Male",
"Female", "Unisex"
variation: see above
sku_variation: when adding a sku to an item, you associate desired
attributes/variations with a sku via the ADD_SKU screen. All new
attributes/variations are automatically included in this screen.
relationship: used to define item-to-item relationships. For instance, "Same
Product Line" or "Also Recommended". There are two default relationships
defined (i forget what they are off the top of my head). When you administer
relationships, you can associate the current item with another item by
selecting the appropriate checkbox(es). Note, this screen is kinda
confusing. It simply dumps all items in your database for you to select
from.
item_item - this is where the above relationships are stored.
session_sku - i haven't had time to look at this yet. But, i believe this is
where a person's shopping cart selections are stored. This data is either
cleared out or makes it into an invoice/order.
I suggest you play around with the admin menu. Once you start adding items,
skus, and attributes it all starts making sense.
