My monitor is sRGB. Yours is likely too. We are looking at the corrected glyphs.

No we aren't, precisely because of our sRGB monitors. The bitmaps FreeType produces wouldn't need to be corrected if our monitors had a gamma curve of 1.0 (= linear space), where 1 + 1 = 2. But sRGB describes a gamma curve approximating 2.2. So unless this is accounted for, we are looking at uncorrected glyphs :)
