Ok, a couple of things came to mind:
o Sequential recording - record on 30 minute show at 12, and another
at 12:30. 
o if you have a fast machine, ffmpegrec is supposed to have much
better A-V sync so at least mencoder, nvrec and mp1e would need
support.
o Highlighting scheduled shows in the TV guide in red or some color.

Like seperate things and we can just do an 'eval' based on a
configuration option?
