This should be very easy without adding too much in the configs. Only return 'record' as third value in the actions list and you can use EVENTS['menu']['rec'] = Event(MENU_CALL_ITEM_ACTION, arg='record') The later can be default and all plugins doing some sort of 'record' should return 'record' as short description.
