But this fix seems to work well for me. I haven't had any IOError's yet either. I'm going to try wrapping it afterwards.

I see it when viewing live TV using mplayer. Not with recorded files. This wasn't a problem with the runapp based freevo (1.3.4), probably because it also used kill -9?
