We have had that for ages :) Hit 'REC' to save the position and then if you pull up the "submenu" you can choose them from a list. The problem is (and this was admitted by the mplayer developers) that the mpeg/mpeg2 seek isn't perfect. Mplayer G2 is promising a much improved seeking in mpegX files.
