Hi,

A couple of months ago we found a problem with ifoparser from mmpython, segfaulting while parsing the content of (some ?) encrypted dvd's.
I upgraded to mmpython 0.4 and freevo 1.5pre-1.

It was argued some months ago that it was a linking/compilation problem with libdecss or libdvdread (?).
There is a fix for the runtime in 0.3.1 to use mplayer to parse the number of titles on the DVD, but it does not provide the same level of functionality as the original dvdinfo.py (chapter and subtitle information).

It'll probably never make it into mmpython and I understand that very good.

However, even when NOT using the runtime, and having all dependencies correctly compiled and installed (including mmpython), the problem still exists.
I would like to get to the root of this problem and find a clean fix.

1) For the runtime, could we write a better version that also provides chapter and subtitle information using mplayer ? (Esp. Subtitles are important!)
Or one that uses e.g. 'lsdvd' instead of mplayer to parse the content, and then provide lsdvd in the runtime ? I am willing to spend time on it.
2) Why is mmpython still crashing (segfault) when ifoparser reads the content of an encrypted DVD ? (ifoparser.open in dvdinfo.py)
I have the following packages installed:
libdvdcss2-devel-1.2.8-1plf
libdvdcss2-1.2.8-1plf

I would like to fix this once and for all. Tell me how to proceed (both for runtime and stand-alone) and I'll try to help.

Zeratul
