This was about windows, not apps. ;-) E.g. if the user is inside an input box 
in some app, some events of a more global type (exit, go-to-guide, ..) would 
be handled by the parent.  In X toolkits, you have this event model, where 
unhandled events are given to the parent.

Let's see where the problems are in Freevo first; I do not know much about its 
event model yet.
