Have you thought about just making a virtual package that 'provides'
those dependencies? That way we could maintain one upstream Debian
package and use that one.

I've not delved deep enough into the package system to know that I could. :)

I could also make xmltv a 'Recommends:' for the
next release, since it's true that it's not really a requirement,
though it might lead to people wondering why they don't have listings ;)
