There has been some talk about this recently on the xine-devel mailinglist. And it all depends on the frontend of course. While xine-ui is great as stand alone player it does not as well with integrations to other programs etc. etc. Although I have not tested it myself, I think that http://www.rtwnetwork.com/cxfe looks quite interesting, but maybe it lacks feature needed by freevo?
