Forget about this, I forgot about the internals of XMLTV Freevo 
support.  /tmp/TV.xml (or, to be more precise, the XMLTV_FILE) will be 
re-read and cached (pickled) by Freevo automatically.

It is just important to adapt one's TV_CHANNELS to the output of
  freevo tv_grab --query
and re-enter the guide.  Unfortunately, one needs to 
remove /var/cache/freevo/TV.xml.pickled (or touch/rewrite /tmp/TV.xml) to 
have changes in TV_CHANNELS take effect, I guess that confused me.
