Alright, in that case it might be easier to just wait a little. Meanwhile I'm using that ebuild as it ie, because I'm still on Python-2.4 and also like to install almost anything in a managed way. Guess some of those dependencies you're referring to are already covered by the 20070226 snapshots, right? I'd also like to start using Freevo-2 from that overlay (hope its already doable on DirectFB-only, without X11 dependencies), and might provide also ebuilds for all those packages in there for their SVN head version (gentoo folks know, such packages can have the ebuild version set to 9999 and also the KEYWORD "-*" instead of "~x86" set individually on /etc/portage/package.keywords, to be able to control their masking). I guess, also new USE flag for the freevo-1.99 series ebuilds diverting installation to an alternative directory (and maybe alternative config files/service scripts) might be useful, to be able to have both freevo-1.99 and 1.7.x installed at the same time on gentoo.
