As I said, it did not work for me either. If you have your own
recordings, the hash will never match (unless other people start and
stop the recording the exact same moment). But my idea was to add it, it
does not hurt. But ATM the code is disabled until someone confirms it works.

TV episodes was the reason I started working on kaa.webmetadata again in
the first place. They are much easier. You only need the series name,
season and episode number and thetvdb does the rest. So kaa.webmetadata
only searches for the series name, you can define an alias if you name
it different, and based on season and episode you get metadata. That
works well for me.

kaa.metadata right now supports themoviedb and thetvdb but you can add
more "content provides" if you like. And themviedb also has the feature
to search for the movie name based on a unique dvd id, that could be
very handy if you insert a disc. I did not try it, the ids are different
than the ones we use. :(

Agreed, IMDB seems to be the ids that would be a) most stable and b)
easy to convert. E.g. themoviedb allows you to search based on the IMDB
id and also returns it if you search on a title (or hash if it works).
This way you can use this id to get more metadata.

The best way (TM) would be if DVDs and recordings have this unique id.
But I know of no TV station broadcasting the IMDB id for the mivie
currently running.
