Your both right, this has been raised as a bug report on the tracker and I'm working my way towards it :-). In fact the reason I haven't taken a proper look at it is I'm thinking about reworking the whole playlist implementation as it just doesn't seem to work as expected for a lot of things. But fear not I will be looking at the problem.
