Are you using an nvidia supplied framebuffer driver that does tv-out?? That would be cool I guess. I used to use vesafb on my MX440 with the TV as the only head attached so that it would boot up with the console/fb on the TV. The only thing saving my ass there was the processor speed picking up the slack.
