Freevo should be able to run without X11 since it uses SDL and there
is a native Carbon port of SDL. You'll need to compile the
requirements by hand or get them from fink if they're available, but
there is no real reason it shouldn't work.

As I said, it hasn't been tried yet, but I went through and checked
for Linux-isms awhile back, and I know it works on FreeBSD, so it
should work on the Mac.
