Actually, I just did a quick compare between the filesizes of the two dll
directories (RPM and .tar.gz), and all the files differ in size. I believe
that RPM does a strip and compress step during the packaging. By right
they should still be equivalent, but I can't check as there're no symbols
in the original tar.gz binaries so I don't know how to compare the two.

(I don't normally deal with shared libraries so someone more knowledgeable
would have to comment).

Ok. Guess there's some issues with the original binaries? I am using a RH
8.0 distro base as well, but I can't get recording to work (as of
1.3.2-pre2) since I don't have any xmltv program feeds to start with.
