Hi, After a good night fiddling around with freevo, lirc and my remote yesterday I now know following. The only thing you have to do, to get freevo working, is create the file /etc/freevo/lircrc, and in my case (dont't know if its a common problem) change the acces right of /dev/lircd from rw-r--r-- to rw-rw-rw-.
An exaple for lircrc you can find in "./freevo-1.3.2-pre2/contrib/lirc/". The files realmagic and urc_7201b00 are good examples how you map the buttons of youre remote (as shown by irw) to the commands freevo expects. so stepwise: -had lirc installed and working (test with mode2 and irw). -unpacked "freevo-1.3.2-pre2.tar.gz" and moved it's contents to /usr/local/freevo/ -created /etc/freevo/lircrc -changed access-rights of /dev/lircd to rw-rw-rw- That's all. Don't know cause I'm not that long using freevo. But I think it's using lirc > > I have tried editing the config file /etc/freevo/local_conf.py, the > RC_CMDS don't seem to have any effect.. Nope, it only listens to /etc/freevo/lircrc > > I have done the same to the remote.py with no results.. freevo/rc_clients/ isn't used at all anymore. You kan simply test this by moving it to an other dir. > > I've used the helpers/freevo2lirc.pl to convert my remote.py to lircrc.. > > In all this I haven't found which config file you need to edit to tell > freevo which config file you are using..
