Hi

The only 'issue' is that freevo is running as root the way I do it, but I'm not worried about that. The info/link in the wiki tells you how to get around this.

As for window problems or mplayer problems, there are none - not even when I used 1.3.1. I'm not sure what you mean by SDL not being able to open more windows without a wm? I thought XFree86 handled this rather than the windows manager. How would my mplayer work on the top of freevo otherwise?

Cheers
Paul

I think there's some issues with doing it this way. I don't remember if
the Wiki section on running Freevo automatically from startup linked to
the original article on starting up applications automatically in X, but
it has something to do with UID/GID.

Also SDL might not like the fact that it cannot create additional windows
in X (without a WM) and mplayer won't run (might work if display=xv)?
I haven't tried messing with this since the 1.3.1 release, so
changes to the freevo display code might have resolved some of these
issues.

I'm using blackbox WM if I run in X, but nowadays I just use framebuffer
mode.
