Hi all, As there has been a lot of discussion on tv-out lately I think it could be appropriate with a short update.
Looks like the preferred card is THE Matrox G400 dh. The dxr3/hollywood+ gives good picture quality, but consumes unnecessary cpu on non mpeg1/2 material. The sad thing with both these cards is that they are discontinued products. The question is what to go for when buying new cards. I have a ATI radeon 7000 with tv-out. Works ok by just plugging the tv before booting, BUT I only got the video under x to work with "vesa". And that was toooo slooow. So I guess nvidia is the only one currently to support tv-out drivers. The problem with nvidia is that there is a great amount of cards beeing marked as for instance "MX440". Some have external videochips, others integrated. So the actual question is what card to buy, considering only tv-out (and reasonable price <100Eur)? thx, Per ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Etnus, makers of TotalView, The best thread debugger on the planet.
