I only have a machine running sid; presumably, most of the dependency
packages will end up in Sarge within two weeks, so you'd just end up
perpetually behind. I can try and prevent it from locking the binaries
to the libc6 revision, but it would be tricky.

Though mplayer itself isn't coming from my source, it's coming from
Christian Marilliat's source. He has a seperate source for Sarge:

Replace:
deb http://marillat.free.fr/ unstable main
with
deb http://marillat.free.fr/ testing main

and you should be able to avoid problems from mplayer.

FYI, here's the list of packages from the Freevo source specifically:

matrox-tools
mp1e
python2.3-fchksum
python2.3-mmpython
python2.3-pygame
python2.3-pylirc
tvtime
task-freevo

As you can see, it's not a lot; only pylirc and mmpython are
specifically needed from me, but pygame in Debian is always very old.
Fchksum is completely optional.

If you tell me which packages won't install for you, I can make a
seperate 'task-freevo-testing' which doesn't depend on my versions.

Soon, I'll be building proper packages of Freevo itself...
