The big question: why does fbxine need ncurses? I don't have the
source here right now, but maybe this dep is nonsense?

You can't. If you want to use fbxine with your G400, you need the
latest xine-ui (0.9.22) and you must run fbxine as root. Freevo
chooses vidixfb as output, which works fine.
