I have a similar card (Verto). In Linux it only sends output to the TV if

a). No monitor is connected.
b). You have installed the nvidia driver for X and have configured it to use TV out. Instructions for this are on the freevo website and on the nvidia website.

Option B gives you the best picture and lets you use a monitor in text mode to configure your system. When you boot up in text mode everything goes to the monitor. When you do startx everything is sent to the TV. You may not be able to switch to different virtual terminals once the nvidia driver is installed, and it almost certainly won't work with TV out.

The picture quality on the TV when playing movies is very nice though -- much better than using the framebuffer. I tried using Movix (movie playing live CD that uses framebuffer) with the TV connected and no monitor and the picture was not stable. X with the nvidia closed source driver is the way to go here.

finally got my Geforce 2 with TV out....

my luck the instructions here dont work as it doesnt detect the TV for me
so I have to use nvtv...

Anyone else here have to go that route? I'm looking to see what kind of
setup you use to get a stable picture...
