This definitely won't work in our tvtime plugin. We don't set the right stuff for it to work. it is on my todo list for it. It should be working for mplayer. The mplayer plugin has the concept of 'vcr' mode where you connect your vcr video to composite in and your vcr audio to mic in. not sure how you tell the mplayer tv plugin to get into that mode though.
