Is the new record server hardcoded for recording or can I still customize
the record command.
You sure can. The generic_record plugin (the deault) uses VCR_CMD in the same way as before.
I.E. I flip a bit on my parallel port to turn on/off an LED on the front of my tivo box to indicate that it is recording as well as inserting aumix commands before and after the actual record command to set audio mixer settings/ v4lctl settings for color and bright etc....
I assume you have a shell or wrapper script that you call from VCR_CMD to do this? Also it might be possible to make a Freevo daemonplugin that looks for the lock file that is created when you are recording and flip your LED when the file is there... just a thought but it might not quite fit your situation since you also adjust the mixer settings at the same time. I know that other people have mixer issues while recording too, maybe someone can come up with a solution that is more integrated into the recording process.
also has the bug in the record system gone that refuses to record anything unless you edit the python source and add some text as outlined in the FAQ? or did that bug not follow across to the record server....
You must be talking about the LD_PRELOAD thing. That is taken care of for you now.
Just trying to decide if it's worth upgrading to 1.4rc1 as it not being a real binary release has a much greater effort to install it..
There's a binary release now that is based on the last released runtime. I still plan on updating the runtime with newer versions of the dependencies.
One suggestion for the record server. Allow me to set a couple of variables that are start and end recording offsets.
I.E. I want all recordings to start 1 minute earlier than the scheduled time and end 1 minute after the scheduled end.
Yes, that is a good feature to have. If no one supplies a patch I will get to it eventually. ;)
