very cool Rob... thanks for the updated info.

I have been pretty much dubbed the freevo-guy here at work and at the LUG
(Linux users Group) I've built 7 freevo machines so far (and getting tired
of having different hardware to mess with each time.)

I know the number one feature people have ben asking me about is the items
planned for the record server... (I.E. record spongebob every time it shows
up)

again, I give everyone working on freevo a big thank you and a thank you.

Just FYI: I had one person here tell me that freevo is better than windows
XP media center. after they messed with the freevo I have set up in the
board room... so it's right on track!

You sure can. The generic_record plugin (the deault) uses VCR_CMD in
the same way as before.

I assume you have a shell or wrapper script that you call from VCR_CMD
to do this? Also it might be possible to make a Freevo daemonplugin
that looks for the lock file that is created when you are recording and
flip your LED when the file is there... just a thought but it might not
quite fit your situation since you also adjust the mixer settings at the
same time. I know that other people have mixer issues while recording
too, maybe someone can come up with a solution that is more integrated
into the recording process.

You must be talking about the LD_PRELOAD thing. That is taken care of
for you now.

There's a binary release now that is based on the last released runtime.
I still plan on updating the runtime with newer versions of the
dependencies.

Yes, that is a good feature to have. If no one supplies a patch I will
get to it eventually. ;)
