Ive spent the last day or two working with freevo getting it installed,
configured, and working with my Hauppage WinTV card (bt878 chipset).
It's not been an easy task, but 99% of the information has been online,
just not in any one place. Kudos for that much... I've dealt with (too)
many projects where that wasn't the case. I tried 1.4.1 but came across
too many dependancy issues, so I stuck with 1.3.4. When I have more time
later, I'll work on upgrading.
At this point, I'm mostly set. My recording server works, after
integrating the code from cvs in src/tv/tv_utils.py to fix the issue
with spaces in filenames.
I do have one problem: my recorded files are not playable under windows,
using Media Player or Quicktime. Media Player gives an error about
"ClassFactory cannot supply the requested class". Using the tool GSpot,
I found that the headers are corrupt. Mplayer can still play it back,
however.
This is my setting for calling mencoder (stripped comments for clearer
email):
VCR_CMD = ('/usr/bin/mencoder ' +
'-tv driver=v4l:input=0' +
':norm=NTSC' +
':channel=%(channel)s' +
':chanlist=us-cable' +
':width=320:height=240' +
':outfmt=yv12' +
':device=/dev/video0' +
':adevice=/dev/dsp' +
':audiorate=32000' +
':forceaudio:forcechan=1:' +
'buffersize=64' +
' tv://' +
' -ovc lavc -lavcopts ' +
'vcodec=mpeg4' +
':vbitrate=1200:' +
'keyint=30 ' +
'-oac mp3lame -lameopts ' +
'br=128:cbr:mode=3 ' +
'-ffourcc divx '
'-o "%(filename)s.avi" ')
Any idea what I need to change to get the headers generated so Media
Player can read these?
I'm also looking at my audio atm; I can hear the audio fine when
watching, but it doesn't seem to get recorded right. I'm going to look
at the forceaudio settings, and check regarding btaudio. I've got the
line-out from my WinTV card going into line-in on my SB Live card...
wondering if there's something I need to tweak in regards to that.
