I also think one of the problems might be that the dxr3 video output refuses
to allow any resolution setting other than 800X600  no matter what the
/etc/freevo/freevo.conf has in it for a resolution size upon starting freevo
it says...

"800X600" is too big. Cropping to fit.

I don't undertand. Just set OVERSCAN_X and OVERSCAN_Y in
local_conf.py.
