<snip> As far as I can tell, the web front merely looks at the schedule to see if it's recording - it doesn't actually check to see if it's actually being recorded. The error you're seeing below is the same one I had when my mencoder command was incorrect. If I was you, I'd take the mencoder command as it shows up in the log and try to run it manually from the command line.
