I have wasted an entire day trying to make this work. I'm running a fresh install of mandrake 10 official, with kernel 2.6.3.
I even have back up directories of a working 1.5 pre1, and 1.4 from mandrake 9.2/2.4. Same thing I install freevo (any version), including the quick download method. When I type ./freevo I get Inconsistency detected by ld.so: rtld.c: 1175: dl_main: Assertion `_rtld_local._dl_rtld_map.l_prev->l_next == _rtld_local._dl_rtld_map.l_next' failed! Doesnt matter. ./freevo, ./freevo setup, ./freevo install /runtime.tgz, whatever. I did a search of the mailing list. No help, except we all seem to be running the new kernel. The FAQ's say that the run time may not work with our distribution, and to manually install the deps.. So, I went and installed everysingle dep (from the wiki list) from rpm, and a couple from source. Guess what. no change. Looks like freevo is not compatible with the new kernel. And considering how terrible 2.4 is, I'm not going back.. Does any one have any ideas on something i might have missed, a hack to get around this, or something. I've been with freevo along time, and dont want to switch to something else.
