Actually, transcode does this quite well, just tell it where to cut. The trick being to tell it where to cut to get clean results:) The one slight drawback is that the sound must be decoded and recoded in order to keep in sync when you cut (according to transcode's doc). It's not a problem with my low sound quality recordings, but it might be annoying with DVB audio.
