From looking through the source code, it does not look like VIDEO_SHOW_DATA_DIR defaults to anything (my apologies if I'm wrong). Although, it appears to only be used for the TV recordings and not for movies. In any case, my original request stands. Please add an example entry and description to local_conf.py.example.
