1. what do they have? if they are not in the default video extensions list they won't show up. You can append new extensions in local_conf.py
2. there is a detach music bar. but some tasks are not easily done together since we don't do any real audio mixing. (so no play games and listen to music etc). But as long as the two items don't conflict for resources they can be done at the same time. 4. look at the command plugin. It can be pointed at a dir with shell scripts to run. also in 1.5.0 you can use fxd files to run X clients if your configuration is x based. (in other words run mozilla, evolution or some other app).
