this may be a solution for what your looking for:

*this is what I've currently got working*
1)using vserver on the tivo and tivo-mplayer copy the tivo program
stream from the tivo to the freevo
(something like
         mplayer tivo://my-tivo-dns-name/list
         mencoder tivo://my-tivo-dns-name/show_number -o
./ripped_tivo_show.mpeg

2) using mplayer/freevo play it

*this is what you could do*
use mplayer directly to play it with freevo (I have 2 mplayer binary's
on my box so I can't do the above - pony I know but needs drive etc)

This was a while ago now so tivo (vstream) may now be availabe in the
main mplayer branch
