Dischi- I can start that, I have a just built current list application and about every library that freevo uses from python, and perl. Had to add about a perl modules to get xmltv to compile on Slackware. I also discovered the issue with python 2.4 and xmlplus, looking for saner/simpiler solution than downgrading to 2.3.
