It would be totally cool if every time i plugged in my ipod it synced to the servers store of music. I have an ipod photo so it would be nice for pics also, my digital camera is also a usb mass storage device and i sometimes keep other data on it, we're also neglecting usb key fob style storage etc... too
It would also be cool if we could have a printing interface for images, I suppose most of this would be done via scripts which run externally of freevo however, it would be nice to include them in the distribution.
I'm gonna be writing ipod sync scripts anyway just to make my life easier so there's my contribution. I'm not sure about the automounter, although would magicdev do this?? or is it closer to hal?
Anyone else got any ideas?

I do this remotely with an ftp server (proftpd) on the freevo box. I view the SD card with freevo, but copy to my file server via FTP. I tend to keep the freevo box free of anything other than recorded TV (which is automatically compressed and moved to the fileserver via a script anyway). I then use autofs to access the various file servers on the network.

I'm curious, what do you do to compress your recorded files?

I use something very similar (but a bit simpler) than what is shown at <http://freevo.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/doc/TipsAndTricks#head-b7ef44d3b19afedc4930179f55a1ca8efaaeb845>
.
I found the wiki script to not be very usable with large (>2GB) recordings. It also did not result in correct sound sync with the video. My scripts as mentioned are simpler (using a single pass high quality transcode with mp3 sound). I can send them to you if you like, or paste them to a reply if others are interested. They are quite easy to develop yourself based on the wiki scripts though, if you want to customise for your own purposes.
