my freevo doesn't work either, in my case, I copied down exactly the same sequence of commands that freevo uses to invoke mplayer to play TV, and ran mplayer with those arguments, mplayer worked fine, but freevo fails. don't know why.
my suggestion: use tvtime to test before trying out other software, if tvtime doesn't work, it's likely a kernel/hardware problem. tvtime is really nice and reliable! I got mythtv working, so I stopped wasting time on freevo. to be frank, both of them are __VERY__ time consuming to get right, you just run into all sorts of weird problems, from hardware (like my loose TV cables, audio connectors from TV card to sound card, ) and kernel (bttv, v4l1/2 , and alsa ) to python debug, to mysql, xmltv, and system time setting........ freevo has a more good-looking GUI, I think, but it doesn't feel right that you have to enter "watching mode" through the program guide. if you really can't get it working, you may try mythtv, Y On Wed, May 25, 2005 at 12:00:57AM -0400, Davin Desborough wrote: > First off, thanks to all who responded to my last post.
