You can also use OSD_FORCE_FONTNAME to change the font. Plus you can
trick freevo into using different fonts by falsely naming them to
vera.ttf or Arial_Bold.ttf.

Depends on your situation, if the machine is shared with users who
should not have root access then it can be dangerous, but for a
stand-alone box IMHO there is no real risk.
