I did everything (and double checked) it explains, but I still can not find
my lirc_atiusb module.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe lirc_atiusb
FATAL: Module lirc_atiusb not found.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo modprobe atiusb
FATAL: Module atiusb not found.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo /etc/init.d/lirc start

## You should install lirc-modules-source to build ##

Debian (originally Mepis, but Debian kernel now)
Finally winning, removed the package installed and installed lirc from
source;
now just need an /etc/init.d/lircd entry
