Hi all, I've just got a new laptop and I would like to run a "remote" client to freevo to allow watching media etc. from the laptop rather than having to be in front of the TV (or for when other people are using the TV).
I have seen from the wiki that I can configure the record server to be remote so that I can remotely schedule recordings from my laptop, and I will use mounting to mount the file systems so I can view all the recorded TV etc. However.. Will there be a problem is I use a different version of freevo on the laptop to the TV? I would like to use the SVN release on the laptop so that I can also do early testing etc. before putting it onto the main media centre, but I am worried about the interface to the recording server, is this a well defined interface or does it use an RMI style? Will I be safe using SVN on the laptop but with 1.7.6.1 running on the main server with the TV card in it? Has anyone else done this? any other known problems I will encounter? ;) Cheers.
